“Wrecks are fascinating windows to the past.” -PADI
But it is not only wrecks, it can be sunken cars, machines, or airplanes as well, that after a while underwater start to teem with aquatic life. While every diver can explore the outside of a ship wreck, only certified Wreck Divers (79304) have the skills and the confidence to explore the interior, really diving into a piece of history. Yet, you have to respect some rules, when it comes to exploring wrecks.
During four dives you’ll learn about safety considerations for navigating and exploring wrecks. You’ll also be surveying and mapping a wreck. When penetrating a wreck, you’ll learn how to use penetration lines and reels, as well as techniques to avoid kicking up silt or disturbing the wreck and its inhabitants.
This course is limited to dive sites actually offering a wreck to explore, so make sure to talk to your PADI dive centre about possible dive locations where you can finish your Wreck Diver Specialty Course.
Course prerequisites:
- PADI Adventure Diver Cert (or equivalent)
- Minimum age: 15 years
This fee covers your manual only. Additional fees apply for practical training, including dives, dive equipment, student slate, certification fee and logbook.
