Waterproof began from the passion of two Swedish brothers in 1984 in their home town of Göteborg. The brothers with different personalities shared a passion of ensuring their designs stood up to the harsh conditions of the cold waters in the Scandinavian waters. Björn Ehlmé was the creative business man, and Göran Ehlmé, head of research and development, led expeditions in polar climates and worked as a photographer for National Geographic.

Wanting their products to stand up in even the harshest conditions, the team at Waterproof test their products on expeditions in the Arctic and Antarctic ensuring the most rigorous quality control, quite simply honouring their heritage as vikings. All elements of research and design, to material sourcing and production is looked after in house by Waterproof allowing them to retain the highest quality products which have become award winning and are now distributed worldwide.

A strong focus of Waterproof is sustainability, in their own words, ‘Our values are guided by the belief that quality is the strongest path to sustainability’, meaning you can be sure that your Waterproof suit will be the highest quality, made from extremely durable materials and designed to last you for years.

In 2004, Waterproof celebrated 20 successful years as a manufacturer with a new collection named for the stars, the Lynx, Areis, Sirius, Draco and Taurus that became best selling premium suits in stores from Russia, Poland, Greece, the UK, NEtherlands, France and Italy. Following this Waterproof expanded to a sales office and warehouse in the US and more distributors globally including Australia and Philippines.

Continuing on this success, the highly popular Waterproof thermal protection ranges continue to grow in sales globally, known for their innovation and comfort of suits that is second to none.
